I have been writing and travelling for many years. In 2012 I left the day job to concentrate on both activities; since then I have travelled around the world, taking in North America, South America, the Middle East, New Zealand (four times) and countless European trips. And I’ve travelled around my native UK quite a bit too. (I have visited more than 50 countries since my first trip to France at the age of 5.)
I describe this blog as “my quest for the interesting and unusual”, which gives me a lot of scope to write about what I like! But you won’t often find me writing about major tourist attractions; I am more interested in wandering off the beaten path and finding things that are a little less well known. I claim to be able to find something of interest in any place I go to (after all, I visited Abu Dhabi five times and never ran out of things to see or do!).
I love visiting new places but the countries I keep going back to are Italy and Spain. For a while I even had a separate blog for my Italian travels – “Bewitched By Italy” – but I have now incorporated my Italian posts into this blog, so you can read about all of my travel experiences in one place.
I also write fiction. My first novel “Shadow of the Dome” – a historical novel based on 13th century Mongol China and the travels of Marco Polo – is in the process of publication and I am working on the next book. I am a book review editor for the Historical Novel Society and in the past I have written travel articles for Buckettripper.com and articles on business and management for DecodedBusiness.com.
I welcome well written guest posts on subjects that will be of interest to my readers. Contact me at email@example.com for a copy of my guest post guidelines or for other ways of working with me.
