I have been writing and travelling for many years. In 2012 I left the day job to concentrate on both activities; since then I have travelled around the world, taking in North America, South America, the Middle East, New Zealand (three times) and countless European trips. And I’ve travelled around my native UK quite a bit too.
I describe this blog as “my quest for the interesting and unusual”, which gives me a lot of scope to write about what I like! But you won’t often find me writing about major tourist attractions; I am more interested in wandering off the beaten path and finding things that are a little less well known. I claim to be able to find something of interest in any place I go to (after all, I visited Abu Dhabi five times and never ran out of things to see or do!).
I love visiting new places but the countries I keep going back to are Italy and Spain. Until recently I even had a separate blog for my Italian travels – “Bewitched By Italy” – but I have recently incorporated my Italian posts into this blog, so you can read about all of my travel experiences in one place.
Apart from my blog I also write travel articles for Buckettripper.com and articles on business and management for DecodedBusiness.com. I write book reviews for the Historical Novel Society and have just completed my first novel. The novel is a historical novel based on 13th century Mongol China and the travels of Marco Polo – as part of my research I took a cruise around South East Asia to visit some of the places I was writing about. I’m currently looking for a publisher – but I’ll be shouting about it on here when it’s available to buy!
I welcome well written guest posts on subjects that will be of interest to my readers. Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for a copy of my guest post guidelines or for other ways of working with me.
