I’m very excited to tell you about a fabulous opportunity for UK readers to win a trip for two to Copenhagen. And to introduce you to a new book explaining the secret of happiness. (The competition is for UK only, but anyone can share in a little Danish happiness by reading the book…)
The Competition – Win a Trip to Denmark
The competition is being run by Best Served Scandinavia in association with Penguin Books and Visit Denmark. It is promoting the publication of The Little Book of Hygge, a celebration of the Danish way of happiness. The prize is two nights in a Copenhagen hotel for two people, together with airfares and a Copenhagen Card to help you explore the city.
You have until 31 December to enter the contest – have a look at the website for more details.
The Little Book of Hygge
Evenrifryou don’t win the competition you can still spread a little bit of happiness by buying The Little Book of Hygge. It would make a perfect Christmas present for a friend or family member, or even for yourself. The book was written by Meik Wiking, who is CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen. (No wonder Denmark is said to be the happiest country in the world when they have their own Happiness Research Institute!)
The book lets you into the secret of all this happiness – hygge. It is hard to sum up hygge in a few words, but it is based on wellbeing, appreciating what you have, and being kind to yourself and others. The tradition focuses on enjoying time spent in the home, and in the company of others. It sounds like a perfect read for those long December nights!
